Where I was born

Hi everyone and welcome back to my blog. Today in Cybersmart we have been discovering and learning about the other people in out class and where they were born. We all had to put a mark of the place and country we were born in. Look at the map above to see the results. We also had to answer questions about how New Zealand has changed over the years because of people from other countries deciding to live in another place. Here are the questions,

1. How far have some students travelled in their lifetime to reach WPS?
Yes, People from our school have travelled for many miles to reach New Zealand. Some people are from Asia, some from the pacific Islands and many more.

2. Why do people make the choice to move to different countries?
People choose to move and live in different countries because of the way they are run and because their family might live there.

3. Is this a trend in NZ society?
Yes, because there are many different people from all over the world that I see on the streets or in my class.

After that we watched a video called vimeo the lie and talked about how it made us feel. Here is the link to the video:

This video made me feel very sorry for those who are being judged by the colour of their skin. Alot of other mean things have been said judged on many other things like their gender. This made me feel the pain of the kids speaking and sharing their experiances. THIS NEEDS TO STOP!

The cyberbullying scernario

Hi everyone and welcome back to my blog. This week for cybersmart we have been working on what to do when being cyberbullied. We had to come up with a scernario of being cyberbullied. Here is what I came up with:

 Then we had to come up with a solution to this problem and here is mine: If I was in this situation I would probably report to the people who own the app and let them know that I'm being hacked. Then I would try and give them as much information as possible about the hacker and then wait and see if the hacker has been identified. If that doesn't work then I would go and tell someone that I trust so that we can discuss other solutions. If you have any questions feel free to leave a comment.

The amazing gymnastics fun

Aloha everyone! Welcome back to my blog. As part of our kiwi sport lessons this term every Wednesday we were lucky enough to get free gymnastics classes taught to us at our school. Our coaches names were Kane and Kyle who also work at the Tristar gym in Mount Roskill. They help us learn all sorts of new things like Statics, landing shapes, Locomotion, Spring, Rotation, Swing and Manipulative skills.  My favourite part of the lessons was practicing all of my favourite skills that I can do like handstands and cartwheels.
After a whole terms worth of gymnastics class I was given a certificate for participating in all of the classes plus I got a voucher to take one lesson of gymnastics at the tristar gym for free! Here is a picture:

How to make a joiner

Hi everyone and welcome back to my blog. Sorry that I haven't posted in awhile. Anyway a few weeks ago we made some joiners. A joiner is digital art that includes lots of photo taking and puzzle working. We have spent lots of days working on our joiners to put into our school art festival. Improving our blog comments

Hi everyone! In today's learning we were practicing our blog commenting. We found an average comment and turned it into a successful and interesting blog comment. To do this we made sure our blog comment was helpful thoughtful and positive. We added a greeting at the start and explained what we thought they could improve on next time. We thought hard about connections we could make and questions we could ask so that we could start a conversation. After lots of hard work this is our finished piece. Through this activity I have learned that it's important to leave a detailed blog comment so they can keep improving their posts.  Make sure to leave an interesting blog comment and show me your commenting skills.

Today during cybersmart we were learning about how to improve our blog posts to make them better for our readers. We developed new skills like explaining our work and giving it a touch of colour to help our blogs be more successful and describe our learning.
